    Termination agreement & contract review

A KARENT contract lawyer and specialist in employment law reviews any termination or settlement offer you have received from a legal, tax and financial perspective.

This service is especially valuable if you are aiming for an amicable settlement and want to avoid litigation or an unfair-dismissal claim.

The review of the termination offer addresses, among others, the following questions:

    • Will you retain your full entitlement to unemployment benefit?
    • What grounds for termination have been stated?
    • Are all your entitlements (bonuses, company car, pensions, etc.) fully accounted for?
    • How attractive is the severance package in light of your sector, your length of service and your individual circumstances?
    • Is there scope for tax optimisation?

    Convincing in the interview

Depending on your individual situation and the role you are targeting, there are a number of tricky questions you should be as well prepared for as possible in an interview. Together we draw up a list of the likely difficult questions and prepare considered answers.

You then practise answering these questions in realistic interview scenarios in front of the camera. Video training reveals weaknesses in how you present and communicate, and improves your chances of an offer.

We put ourselves in the position of an interview coming up in a few days and recreate it. You are confronted with the typical questions.

    • Your communication and interaction with the interviewer are practised and refined.
    • Questions about your CV and awkward questions are reviewed afterwards.
    • Your strengths and achievements are reworked with the prospective employer in mind.
    • Where appropriate, we develop a strategy paper together setting out your initial ideas for solving the new employer's challenges.
    • You gain clarity on whether, and on what terms, you are interested in the role on offer.

    Application documents & CV design

Especially when applying to job adverts, an individual CV is often given no more than perhaps 30 seconds. Your most important arguments therefore need to register within that time.

Your KARENT consultant develops a CV with you that does more than list your career stations and responsibilities – it shows what you achieved for your employers. Your CV should be tailored to the role you are targeting and back up your personal strengths with concrete examples of success.

There is no such thing as the ideal layout or the ideal length for a CV. What matters is that a clear thread and a personal development are visible. From thousands of consulting projects we know which CVs work and which mistakes to avoid.

We prepare your documents in PDF format – the industry standard for electronic documents – giving you a professional presence. On request we also translate your CV into English.

    Assessment & strengths-and-weaknesses profile

Everyone is naturally endowed with different talents and abilities.

Our experience shows that focusing on your own strengths makes you more successful than trying to compensate for your weaknesses. You should aim for a role that calls on your strengths as often as possible, every day.

We offer to help you get to know your own strengths profile using various assessment tools (MBTI, StrengthsFinder). Personal inclinations, talents and strengths usually reveal themselves in your choice of career, your professional development and in specific achievements along the way. We mirror your strengths against your professional successes.

The insights gained help to define a target role and possible target companies. Throughout the application process and in interviews you will come across as more assured and self-confident – and more authentic than candidates who are perhaps simply after “any” job.

    Reference check & drafting

A KARENT expert reviews your employer's reference in terms of both content and form. You receive suggestions for improvement to raise in the conversation with your employer.

Many hiring decision-makers attach considerable importance to candidates' references. Beyond the structure and the “coded grading”, what matters most are the statements about you as a person and your concrete achievements. Alongside the correct structure, we also review how your performance is graded and draw your attention to any hidden assessments.

An important focus is usually the reason for the parting. Are you leaving of your own accord, or does the company have to let you go? Together we discuss which version is more promising for your future path.

From this we develop the all-important closing passage of the reference – the so-called “magic four-part chord” of reason for leaving, regret, thanks and good wishes for the future. Together with you, a KARENT expert drafts a reference suited to your position and as strong as possible – one your employer will just about accept on the basis of your performance.
